just another poet…

self-portrait of a mirrorball

  • self-portrait of a mirrorball

throw my string through the rafters

hoist me higher and higher

bathe me in the lasers

and watch who i was shatter

center stage

highest in the room

life of the party

but who am i really?

i am sharp edges

shattered for a purpose

i am beauty

dismantled and reassembled to fit your mold

i am everything

everything you used to be

everything you threw to the side and refused to nurture

every piece discarded, reformed into a shiny reflection

every piece of glass sharpened

every edge dangerous

thousands of shards

from thousands of hands who shaped me

thousands of eyes on me

me and me alone

a reflection of yourself

a refraction of everyone who shaped me

all i can do is try.

try to shine.

try to hoist myself up

try to reflect myself back.
